About Us

Keeping Southern California Green Since 2006

The Hydro Shop opened doors in October 2006, started by two friends with extensive experience in the indoor gardening field. Our online web store,, was launched in November 2008. With our combined 25-30 years of indoor gardening experience, we felt there was a need to provide better products, knowledge, and service to growers, which we ourselves were not getting from other stores.

We take pride in the quality of products we offer. We have tested everything we sell. This is done to check product claims, product value, and simply if the products work like the manufacturer says it should. We continually test products for quality control purposes, and avoid selling gardening products that are found to be inferior, except upon special request.

At The Hydro Shop, we treat all gardeners with the same high quality of customer service. The novice, and expert, the small garden, and the farm are all viewed with respect. We have noted that an expert in gardening does not just see the problem, but can recognize it faster and take appropriate action, whether it be treatment or prevention. The staff at The Hydro Shop offers complete tech support and guidance from seedling to harvest. We are here to help growers develop their green thumb so they may become self reliant. Our customers receive a team with every purchase.

Among the many hydroponic supplies we have available are complete hydroponic systems, grow lights, CO2, hydroponic components, environment control, pest control, seedling/cutting & cloning supplies, hydroponic nutrients, organic nutrients, rockwool, coco, hydroton, diatomite, test equipment, books, and much more.

Most orders within the U.S.A. are shipped within 2-3 business days.

Some items come directly from the manufacturer. If your order arrives incomplete, please wait 1-2 days before contacting us, as your order may be coming from different locations.

We make it our goal to get all orders shipped the same business day they are processed. Nevertheless, when selecting shipping options,( Next Day, 2nd Day or 3rd Day), be advised these options are from the time of shipping, not the time the order was submitted. Although most orders are processed and shipped within 1-2 days, it may take longer if we are temporarily out of stock on certain items. If an item in your order is out of stock, we will contact you as soon as possible. We will notify you when the item will be available and give you the choice of waiting until the item becomes available to ship, removing the item from your order, or having your order shipped in two separate shipments. We will do everything we can to ensure that you receive your order quickly and complete.

Why Does The Hydro Shop Charge More For Some Products In The Retail Store Than What’s Published On The Website?
First of all, let us start by saying that we do not charge more in the retail store, we charge less on the website. There are many reasons why things have turned out this way. Our brick-and-mortar retail business came before the website. Long Beach Hydro Online was started as a separate entity from Long Beach Hydro the retail store in an effort to introduce our huge selection of specialty growing products to growers who do not have a hydroponic store in their area. Shortly after starting the website, we realized that there were many “online-only” stores that were offering heavy discounts on equipment. Basically, we are competing with guys who are sitting in their garage in their boxer shorts in front of their computer taking orders and having the items drop-shipped from their vendors. They are able to sell products at the prices they do because many of them pay no rent on a building, no utilities, no labor for trained, experienced sales and customer service people, etc. So, after spending large sums of money and time designing our website, we realized that we were not going to be able to sell enough products without at least matching what our “competitors” were charging. We can justify charging less for some items on the website because it also costs us less. Many times, when someone places an order on our website, the only cost involved is the labor needed to process and ship the order. It costs us a lot more to have a retail showroom where customers can come in, spend hours of our time getting the information they need to be successful at what they are trying to do, see and touch the items before they purchase them, etc. The overhead associated with operating our retail stores is many times what it costs to operate the website.
